Bayonne France Pilgrimage route to your definition of indulgence
Bayonne South West France on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Busy, buzzy, vibrant, colourful, warm and friendly.
A great place to visit and sketch.
Ancient cobbled streets lined with interesting and in many cases, unique shops. The old town itself is still surrounded by its well preserved and proud ramparts.
As usual too – plenty of cafes and restaurants to indulge in a little refreshment.
The central Cathedral of Saint Mary of Bayonne is a gothic masterpiece and unlike many French places of worship: warm and welcoming with light, music and wonderful colour all around.
3 hours was not enough but other priorities called, so a quick sketch and back to the car for onward journey.
